About Us Quality Care and Advanced Technology Metro MRI Center introduced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services to the Illinois Quad City area in 1990. Following the opening of its site at 550 15th Avenue, Moline, Illinois with a High-field traditional MRI scanner, Metro began a new era of diagnostic services in its community, offering the highest level in quality care using the most advanced imaging technology available. |

In
1997, the addition of an Open MRI scanner enabled Metro to accommodate claustrophobic
and very large patients that often preferred or needed the design of the Open
MRI scanner. Also in 1997, Metro MRI Center was the first in this area to
be accredited by the American
College of Radiology (ACR). In May 2007, the low-field MRI scanner was
replaced by a stronger, more powerful Open MRI while continuing to provide
comfort to all patients. In August 2000, due to the increasing demand for MR imaging services to hospital inpatients, Metro placed a 1.5 Tesla (High-Field) wide-open, short bore MRI system within Trinity Medical Center West Campus in Rock Island. This eliminated the need to transfer inpatients to and from the outpatient facility in Moline. In December 2000, Metro MRI Center moved from its 15th Avenue, Moline site to a new building, Valley View Place, at 615 Valley View Drive, Suite 102, Moline. A new 1.5 Tesla (High-Field) wide-open, short bore MRI system was added to replace the existing high-field scanner. This is a high performance MRI system comparable to the scanner at Trinity West Campus. "The design of the wide-open, short bore MRI magnet design helps to eliminate patient anxiety and provides greater access to the critically ill or the compromised patient. The image quality and high field tools of this type of scanner offer distinctive advantages and more potential than that of low-field systems." said Dr. Richard Arnell, managing director of Metro MRI.In May 2004, Metro MRI Center began offering MR services in their Iowa location at 4480 Utica Ridge Road, Suite 120, Bettendorf. The new 1.5 Tesla Siemens scanner, with connectivity to Trinity at Terrace Park Hospital, allows patients to be transferred to MRI without leaving the hospital. Metro MRI offers the newest advancements in MRI with specialty examinations like cardiovascular imaging (CVMR), brain spectroscopy (MRS), and breast imaging (MR Mammography). Skilled and highly trained technologists at Metro perform the MRI examination. They are ARRT radiographers and have earned certification in advanced level MRI. They are selected for their professional competence, as well as for their compassion and pride they take in their work. "Good patient care and high quality Magnetic Resonance Imaging studies are the most important aspects of my job." said John Foley, a staff MRI technologist since 1992. All exams performed at Metro MRI are interpreted by radiologists of Advanced Radiology, S.C. all of whom are certified by the American Board of Radiology. The radiologists have established themselves as valued consultants and colleagues with the referring physicians.Metro MRI is available for all patients 24 hours every day.
